Maxine W. McAfee, 85, Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully with family Saturday, April 28, 2012. She was born in Houston, Texas to Richard Julius Kraus and Edith Gladys Andrus on August 20, 1926. She is preceded in death by husband William Joseph McAfee and together they raised two children in a Christian home and celebrated 64 years of happy marriage.
Maxine is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Kraus; survived by son William L. McAfee and wife Shelley of Austin, Texas, daughter Marilyn Baugh of Austin, Texas and sister Blanche Quinn Mason of Deer Park, Texas; grandsons, Chris Bradford and wife Lenny of Austin, Texas, William “Patrick” McAfee of Alpine, Ryan McAfee of Austin, Texas; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Harris and husband Verlan of The Woodlands, Texas, Tommy Cary and wife Joy of Houston, Texas, Jan Rodery and husband Vince of Oklahoma, Judy Hagerthy and husband Ron of Corona Del Mar, California, Mark McAfee and wife Nancy of Illinois, Kathy Williams of Indiana and Ron Marsch of South Carolina.
Maxine grew up in Houston where she attended Franklin Elementary school and church at Richey Evangelistic Temple. She moved to Edna Texas and lived with her grandparents. She attended school and gave her heart to the Lord at a Baptist church in Vanderbilt. She graduated from Industrial (Vanderbilt) High School in 1943. Maxine moved back to Houston and worked at Tennessee Gas in downtown Houston as an Integrator Operator. During that time she volunteered at the USO during World War II. She met William J. McAfee in Houston, through an Aunt and they married in the Chapel of the First Methodist Church in Houston, May 16, 1947. Maxine started working as Branch Supervisor in 1974 for Shell Employees Federal Credit Union until retirement in 1985. Maxine and William “Bill” retired and moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1986 and were members of First Baptist Church of Georgetown, for more than 25 years. Maxine loved her family and took care for them through total love, support and her favorite thing sewing, baking and candy making. She loved all her friends and gave her love to them through baked food gifts. Maxine’s loving kindness will always be with us and the sound of her Harmonica.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2nd at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home Georgetown, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday May 3rd at First Baptist Church Georgetown, with a graveside service to follow.
