Mike was a three sport athlete at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois and continued his athletic career with a scholarship in football at Southern Illinois University. A knee injury curtailed his athletic career.
After college he became a very successful sales manager with Evinrude corporation. Because of his success, he built his own company,Snyder Recreational. Despite his sardonic business motto, "Buy High; Sell Low: The Mike Snyder Story," he maintained a phenomenal reputation because he treated his customers with unmatched integrity and compassion.
Mike had a love for animals especially his horses . It was pure joy for him to see his horses race.
Chicago did not have a more diehard fan than Mike. He loved the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, and Sox. If you went to his house there was always a game on, a smile on his face, and people there enjoying the games with him. His girls knew the starting lineup of the Bulls from the moment they could talk. If you needed to know anything about a sport, he was the guy to ask.
Michael lived his life wholly concerned with how he could care and provide for the people he cherished, more often than not he would go out of his way to bring a smile to someone’s face.
He was a caring and thoughtful father to his three daughters and his pride for them reflected in his efforts to make sure of their success. He was a grandfather that was very supportive even when you couldn’t count them all on two hands.
Michael had the best sense of humor with a booming laugh and a contagious smile that could ignite happiness in all around him. He was a loyal friend and father that would give you the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his three daughters, Jenny (Andrew) Mason, Kelly Hilgenberg, and Shannon Snyder and 12 grandchildren, Bailey, Cameron, Caleb, Cade, Mallory, Molly, Austin, Jake, Cole, Seth, Brody, and Jace. He has one great granddaughter, Parker. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Carol) Snyder and his sister Jody (Robert) Snyder and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Joan Paugh Snyder and dad, Arthur Charles Snyder.
