Mildred Haney Norment was born in Williamson County, Texas, on January 22, 1927 to James M. Haney and Nettie Guthrie Haney. Mildred was born into a close knit family and has always treasured them, especially her children and grandchildren. She was known to say she loves all of her family, “in-laws and out-laws.”
Mildred was preceded in death by her Mother and Daddy, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Robert Norment and wife Stephenie; a daughter, Jane Ann Svestka and husband Larry; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two special nieces, Carolyn May and husband Dean and Linda Richey and husband Jay.
Mildred’s values were shaped and formed by her early experiences with family and church. She was raised in the church and became a strong Christian at age 12. Mildred has always felt her life blessed by her faith in God. She has been an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church since the early 1980s.
For 26 years Mildred worked for the Texas Department of Transportation. She enjoyed her work and has always been known by family, friends and co-worker for her sense of humor. She kept them in stitches with her humorous colloquialisms and positive attitude.
On April 22, 2015, Mildred entered her peace. She is now on a new adventure with family and friends, many of whom she hasn’t seen for years. She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly but who know they too will someday join her again.
