Morris L. Clopton

Morris L. Clopton was born March 4, 1943 in Elgin, Texas, the son of Thomas and Ruby (Smith) Clopton. He passed from this life December 8, 2021 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 78. Morris proudly served his country for 22 ½ years in the United States Army. He then began his career in Logistics for Lockheed Martin. He obtained a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Maryland. Morris enjoyed reading, genealogy, eating ice cream and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Morris and Billie Barnett were united in marriage on August 24, 1962 at the Grace Assembly of God Church in Austin. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Flo Voight and brothers-in-law, Bo Voigt and Chester Pace.

Morris is survived by his children, Dawn Marie, Sherri, Sandra, Thomas and wife Beth and Shawn and wife Shelly; sister, Faye Pace; grandchildren, Kyle Bullock and wife Anny, Kayla Broyles and husband Eric, Richard Vertrees and wife Ashleigh, Cameron Clopton, Alyson Chafin, Abbie Clopton, Madilynn Chafin, Carlie Clopton and Emilie Clopton; great-grandchildren, Kate, Sarah, Sienna, Owen, Jackson, Evelyn and Aiden; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 106 College Street, Florence, Texas. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at the Lower Knob Springs Cemetery, 1662 CR 305, McDade, TX.
