Otis George Downey Sr.

He was born on April 24, 1931 in Belton, Texas. He married Doris Nellie Lee Cantrell on October 9, 1954 in Austin, Texas. He served in the Navy from September 11, 1950 until July 14, 1954 and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for and retired from the University of Texas, where he was a locksmith and a handyman.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Downey and his sons, Rex Downey and TJ Downey. He is survived by his remaining children, George Downey, Jr. of Bertram, Texas, Nellieann Moses of Liberty, Texas, and Markie Downey of Tyler, Texas along with their spouses; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas for a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and, of course just chat. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
