Born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 27, 1938, to Lillian Beck and Reginald Ralph Riley, Pat grew up as the fourth of seven children in a lively, warm-hearted home. His school days in San Antonio sparked a lifelong love for his home state, which led him to the University of Texas, where he earned a degree in business. Pat was a Longhorn through and through—bleeding burnt orange, singing "The Eyes of Texas," and rarely missing a Longhorn football or basketball game.
After starting his career with Kraft and later working with the IRS, Pat found his true professional calling in building homes. Through his business, Pat Riley Homes, he loved creating beautiful spaces where local families could put down roots and build their own memories.
Pat was happiest when working with his hands and staying active. Whether he was restoring classic cars, spending time on his land, or working with horses, he was never bored and lived life to the fullest. His greeting was always simple and sincere—a quiet smile and a warm embrace.
Pat is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan Corley Handley-Riley, his five children: Alton - Diseased, Sherri (Bryce), Michael, Steve (Gelinda), and John. His six grandchildren: Jason Riley-diseased, Laura Riley, Sandee Riley, Jessica Riley-Hagar (Chris), Tony Riley, Laura Riley, Regan Riley, and Madison Riley. His two great-grandchildren: Tori Rain Riley, and Hunter Marvin.
