When I think of my Uncle Pete, the first image that comes to mind is that cool look he always had—his slicked-back black hair and dark glasses. Growing up, he was just that quiet, smooth uncle to me.Besides his style, Uncle Pete was genuinely kind, with a calm and reassuring way of speaking. Some of my absolute best memories were the Christmas parties at his and Aunt Ophelia’s home. It was always the highlight of our family life when relatives gathered to celebrate. Their home was always filled with so much devotion and love, especially in how they cherished and raised their son, Vincent.Uncle Pete spent his life doing what he loved as a barber. Cutting hair was his calling. He owned Pete’s Barber Shop off the Georgetown square before moving it to his home garage. He built his business, provided for his family, and remained humble. I am sure he treated everyone who sat in his chair with that same kindness and care. Even though time and distance meant I hadn’t seen him as much after moving away, my love and memories never faded. My heart is heavy, and I am deeply saddened for Aunt Ophelia as she loses the love of her life after over 60 beautiful years together. While we grieve, I find peace knowing Uncle Pete is with the Lord in heaven, resting peacefully in His arms. I will forever remember you, Uncle Pete, just the way you were—your happy memories, legacy, faith, kindness, and "coolness." See you in Christ. Rest in HIS peace, Uncle Pete. You will always be remembered, loved, and missed.

Things I remember most about my Tio Pete. His smile, big warm and welcoming. His voice, deep and confident. His watch, loosely dangling upside down next to my head when he cut my hair. His home at Christmas, decorated and filled with laughter, joy and family. Although we’ve been gone a long time, I still think of him and all my Tios and Tias. I pray we will all be together someday celebrating like we did when I was a boy. ❤️
