Precious Ann Stevens Sparks, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Ann was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
Ann was born in Houston, Texas on January 16, 1934, to the late Joseph F. Stevens and Mary Irene McLendon. She was the first born of 4 children. She was married to George E. Sparks Jr. who she joined in Heaven and November 25th would be their 69th wedding anniversary.
Ann loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word and telling others about Jesus. Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Ann was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only Heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large.
Aside from her passion of ministering to others, she retired after 27 years from Alief Independent School District working in the Administration Department. She enjoyed working in her yard and had an incredible “green thumb” always having flowers and plants outside and in her home.
Ann played the piano beautifully and accompanied George serving as the music minister at Wilcrest Baptist Church for many years. When George and Ann moved to the Hill Country in 2004, they joined New Hope First Baptist Church in Cedar Park, where they served for over 10 years. Ann was a Bible Study teacher and facilitated in starting the prayer group at New Hope. When they could no longer drive to Cedar Park, they joined Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, where she was active in the prayer group. Ann had a vast library in her study at home and ministered to many with books and cards.
Ann is survived by her sons, Stephen Sparks and wife Sherry of Willis, TX, Douglas Sparks and wife Kim of Lincoln, NE, and daughter Laurie Walker and husband Perry of Georgetown. She has six grandchildren, David, Patrick (Kimmie), Shaun, Kellie and Ashley (Mark), Mary (Jesse), 11 great grandchildren, brother, Joe Stevens (Divina) of California and sister-in-law Annette Stevens from Houston. She is predeceased by her husband, George in 2019, her granddaughter, Jennifer (2021), siblings Bill Stevens (2019) and Jan Fry (2011). Ann has many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to The Help Givers and the caregivers at Sedro Trail Assisted Living and Memory Care in Georgetown TX. We are comforted in knowing Ann no longer suffers from Dementia and that we’ll see her again one day…
Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 2300 Williams Drive, Georgetown TX 78628 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
