Ralph B. Goertz, 89, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and son at his side on Friday July 31, 2020. Ralph was born at home on a farm in Red Rock, Texas to Margaret and Paul Goertz on March 21, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Imelda, Edith, Paul, Patty and Don. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Murray, daughters Ann (Craig) and Kitsy, grandchildren Jenny, Kyle, Rachel and Will and dear friends. His gentle voice and the twinkle in his eye brought ease and comfort to all whose lives he touched.
Ralph graduated from the University Of Texas School Of Pharmacy in May 1959, on the same day that his future wife Mary graduated from the University Of Oklahoma School Of Pharmacy. In spite of that, they had a wonderful marriage.
Ralph was proud to be a pharmacist, to work for Eli Lily Pharmaceutical Co., and to own the Circle Drug in Waco as well as to co-own Mary’s and Ralph’s Pharmacies in Georgetown, Texas. He loved his family, golfing as member of the Georgetown Country Club and with “The Hackers”, and his dogs, especially Sam and Penny.
“It is with mixed emotions I write about my step-father. We are both sad and happy as we grieve the loss of the Patriarch of our family, our Thanksgiving turkey carver, our Santa Claus, secret Easter Bunny, Dad, and Opa. This wonderful man came into my world when he married my mother. I was 16 years old when he took on the role of being my dad; I couldn’t have asked for a better one. He brought joy and happiness to our household and loved my mother deeply. He loved me and my sister, our kids, and their kids. If you knew Ralph, you really liked him. He was always ready to greet you with a bright smile, a twinkle in his eyes and a goofy (often inappropriate) joke. We are saddened by our loss and happy the man we all loved so much has found lasting peace. I love you Ralph, Kitsy.”
As his wife of over 40 years, I am forever grateful for being in a relationship that taught me how to give and receive unconditional love, to support and be supported, to be the best that I can be. With love, Mary.
Memorial donations can be made to the Caring Place in Georgetown, Texas.
