Richard Farrell

Richard was born on December 8, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio. Proud of his country, he honorably served his nation in uniform as a veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and the United Air Force. Following his military service, Richard channeled his strong work ethic into a successful 30-year career as a Safety Director for large trucking companies, where his attention to detail kept countless people safe on the road.

In 1997, Richard relocated from California to Georgetown, Texas, a community he was proud to call home for nearly three decades.

A man who believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right, Richard found great joy in gardening and yard work. He was known for his tireless dedication to his lawn, rarely stepping away from a project until it reached his standard of absolute perfection. His meticulous nature also made him an extraordinary traveler and planner. His logistics skills were so legendary that his neighbors frequently opted to bypass their own trip planning, happily declaring, "just let Richard do it."

Above all, Richard was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Loretta. The pair were married on August 25, 1989, in Buffalo, New York, and shared nearly 37 years of beautiful memories, partnership, and mutual devotion.

Richard’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. As an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, he put his beliefs into action by participating in international mission trips, traveling to Mexico and Ukraine to serve others and share his faith.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mari Catherine (Hunt) Farrell.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Loretta. He is also survived by his daughters Julie and Jennifer; his stepdaughter, Rhonda Phares and husband Darrel; stepson, Mark Huling; sister, Sue Farrell; grandchildren, Jessica, Trevor and Natalie Phares, Kylie and Kiera Dugo, his church family and a host of friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at Cook Walden – Memorial Hill, 13700 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on July 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
