Richard attended Regis High School in Eau Claire from 1959 - 1963. He entered the USAF later that year and Served in Vietnam stationed at the Phan Rang Air Base as a F-100 Super Sabre mechanic for the 366th Tactical fighter Wing. He later served as a Crew Chief on the B-58 Hustler Bomber in the Strategic Air Command (SAC), 43d Bombardment Wing in Texas.
After his service, he trained as an aircraft design blue print reader in Oklahoma. His career changed to joining the Texas Department of Public Safety serving as a Trooper. First as the body guard to the Governor 1968 - 1969 and then to the Highway Patrol 1970 - 1995. After 1995 he was a safety director for Trinity Industries in Texas.
Richard is survived by his wife Doris Hoyle Looby, daughter Tracie (William Michael) Simmons and 2 sons, Johnny Hoyle and Clayton Hoyle, all of Texas; a brother and sister in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in by his stepson Jim Hoyle.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
