He is survived by his wife, Billie Matthews; daughter, Bobbi Lou Ann; sons, Robert, Jr. (Luanna), William (Paula), and Jeff; eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Courtney, Candice, Jeffrey, Tracie, Robert III, Ben, John, Ryan, Christopher, and Joshua; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy Jr. and John, and two sisters, Joyce and Linda. He is preceded in death by his son, Ben Wagner and his parents, Roy Matthews and Ola Marie Baker-Matthews of Holly, Michigan.
Bob is a veteran who served his country as a member of the United States Air Force conducting research with chimpanzees. His long, professional career included the installation and management of several research laboratories at Goodyear, Dupont and Superior Oil USA. He worked as a quality control expert for the Space Shuttle Program at NASA. After retirement, he launched a second successful career as an entrepreneur and owner of Texas Best Locksmiths and Designer Decors in Houston, Texas.
He was a loving father and committed family man who will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters and numerous relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Kyle McFather as the Celebrant. He will be buried in the Fore Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas following the memorial service.
