Ron was born in Wellington, Texas on October 19, 1950 to George Henry Bacon, Jr and Annie Elizabeth (Asher) Bacon. Ron was very proud of his Texas heritage, having traced his family’s roots as a sixth generation Texan. Ron grew up in a ranching family and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoor sportsman his entire life. In his later years, he developed a love of golf and enjoyed the fellowship of his neighborhood golf league members. Ron had a gregarious personality and a love for sharing colorful stories of his childhood in rural Texas. He also shared his love of the outdoors with his sons and grandchildren. Many of their best memories were forged while sharing his passion for the outdoors.
He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1968 with a major in criminal justice and a minor in business administration. His professional career life was diverse. He worked for Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) in Huntsville, Texas while studying at Sam Houston State University. After graduation, he pursued a career with TDC in administration. After his law enforcement career, he entered into retail management for over 30 years and took him and his family throughout the country. Always eager for the next challenge, Ron followed up his retail career as a real estate agent and a real estate appraiser. He ultimately opened his own real estate agency, Bacon Appraisal Company, which he operated until 2022, when he entered his final chapter of life as an active member of his community in Round Rock, Texas.
Ron was very active in the communities he lived in, answering the call to contribute when and where needed. In his years of community service, he was an EMT in Marble Falls, an active member of numerous civic organizations, was a generous contributor to many local causes and always made time to give back to his community.
