Ronald Murrell Cowick of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of May 23rd, 2026 at the age of 91. Ron was born on March 1, 1935, to Roy Murrell Cowick and Katherine Odle Cowick in Ponca City, OK. Ron and his brother Don were raised in Sulphur, LA where he graduated from high school in 1953.

Ron met Nan while they both attended Louisiana Tech. They married on November 2nd, 1954 in El Dorado, AR. Ron soon joined the US Navy Reserves and was called up to active duty in 1955 where he served as a Dental Technician in Corpus Christi and other locations until his honorable discharge in 1960.

After leaving the Navy, Ron completed his Mechanical Engineering at LSU. He and Nan relocated to the Houston area where they raised their children and enjoyed building their careers. Ron worked for numerous engineering firms over the years in a wide range of project engineering roles. In his free time, Ron cultivated his artistic side with passion for writing, for jewelry making, and singing.

Upon retirement, Ron and Nan settled in Georgetown, TX to be close to their grandchildren. Ron was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his family.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Roy Murrell Cowick, his mother, Katherine Odle Cowick, his brother, Dr. Donald Ray Cowick, and his two sons David Murrell Cowick and Kenneth Mark Cowick.

Ron is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nan Willis Lawrence Cowick; his daughter-in-law Christina Lynn Gilchrist Cowick and his two grandchildren, Christiana Rae Cowick and David Steven Cowick.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to their favorite charity in Ron’s name.
