

Ronald Edwin Sullivan, 77, of Georgetown passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Ron’s family will gather for a time of memories and visitation on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM and a service celebrating Ron’s life will follow at 2:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Ron was born February 15, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Harry Edwin and Della Elizabeth Tronnier Sullivan. After graduating high school in Minneapolis, he attended the University of Minnesota where he studied law. Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army and the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963 as a Captain in the Military Police. It was the Army that brought Ron to Texas and Fort Hood. While in Killeen, he began working as a ballroom dance instructor. Ron loved to dance. He met his future wife, Jennifer Sims, while teaching her how to dance. They were married over 26 years. Ron ran the Sims’ family dry cleaning business, Eric Sims Cleaners in Killeen, for many years until it’s closing in 1980. Ron enjoyed woodworking and building things. During his time in Killeen, he built his sons a two story river steamboat in their backyard which the boys enjoyed playing on for many years. He was a marvelous storyteller and loved time spent researching his family history. His family will always cherish the family history books Ron put together and organized for each one of them. Another of Ron’s curious passions was deep sea diving. After his service in the military; he went through training to become a deep sea diver. Ron has lived in Georgetown for the past 12 years working for Airborn, Inc., as a Parts Inspector. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Della Sullivan and his brother, Myles Sullivan. Ron leaves behind two sons who will cherish his memories, Brian Sullivan of Galveston, TX and Terrence Sullivan and his wife Victoria of Overland Park, KS; his grandson, Nathaniel Sullivan; his nieces, Lisa Stender and her husband Allen, and Peggy Sullivan; his great nephew and niece, Spenser and Rachel Stender; his great great nephew, Liam Stender; and former wife, Jennifer Sullivan; along with a host of other loving family and friends.
