Rosie graduated from Brownsville High School, 1972 and earned a BA in Microbiology from the University of Texas, 1976. Rosie retired as a lab supervisor with the Austin Water & Wastewater Dept. in February, 2008 after 21 years of service.
Rosie met the love of her life, Ivan Barrios, in 1975 at the university, and married him December 9, 1978. They had two children, whom they raised in Austin -- their son, Ivan Antonio Barrios, born in Brownsville, in 1981 and daughter, Natalie Nicole Barrios, born in 1985 in Austin.
Rosie is survived by her husband and best friend, Ivan Barrios; their precious children, Natalie Chapa and Ivan Antonio Barrios; her daughter-in-law Kristi Barrios; and son-in-law, John Chapa. Rosie is also survived by four grandsons, Aidan Anthony, Brennan Allen, Emerson Ivan and Jacob Chapa; as well as siblings, Octavio Saenz, Juan Jose Saenz, and Sylvia Saenz; brother-in-law, Antonio Jose Barrios and his daughter, Sarah Valeria Barrios. Rosie is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Rosie was preceded in death by parents, Octavio and Elvira Saenz, and sisters Mary Ramirez-Nenque and Alicia Quintanilla.
Services are at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Dr., Georgetown, TX. Viewing and rosary, October 3, 2018 from 4 pm to 8 pm, and Funeral Service, October 4, 2018 at 10 am.
