

She graduated from Mosheim High School and from Clifton Junior College, and completed Nursing Training at Providence Hospital in Waco. She then served as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps in World War II. Then came graduation from the Lamb School of Anesthesia at Washington University in St. Louis. She was a Nurse Anesthetist at Harris Hospital, Ft Worth when she met Wayland Kidd. They were married in 1953 and lived in numerous cities in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Venezuela, where her husband’s career with Gulf Oil Corporation took them. Sallie was an inspiring an effective family manager during those many relocations. Following retirement, they moved to Georgetown in 1983.
Sallie was a lifelong Methodist and had been active in the First United Methodist Church of Georgetown. Her volunteer activities included The Caring Place, Meals on Wheels and The Wesleyan Volunteers, among others.
Preceding Sallie in death were her parents, Arthur B. and Marie H. Poston; her five siblings, Tillie, Creola, Britt, Marie and Rosalie; and one son, Leland who died in infancy.
Survivors who cherish the memory of her life of helping others are her husband, Wayland Kidd; her sons, Tom of Austin and Fred of Brenham; and many extended family members.
Her family gives special thanks for the loving care Sallie received at The Wesleyan at Scenic and at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Texas
