Samantha Rose Scott, infant daughter of Chad Elliot Scott and Sherlyn (Almazan) Scott, born on February 28, 2011, celebrated her heavenly birthday early on Christmas morning. We had ten beautiful months with her and are forever grateful for each moment and memory. Her life was bright and brief, but what she taught those around her will continue on. Diagnosed with a form of trisomy 18 before she was born, Samantha’s diagnosis was considered incompatible with life. All we asked as her family was to get to meet her alive…God far surpassed that and gave us many gift months. Those months completely changed who we are and taught us that God is truly in every detail and has a great purpose for each one of His children. Samantha’s purpose was to teach us what unconditional love is, to open our eyes to the world of special needs children and what their families face, and to bring people to Christ as they witnessed His hand in her life. She touched more people in her ten months of life than many people do in an entire lifetime. Samantha was surrounded by many people who loved her and cheered her on. She is survived by her two favorite people, her sisters, Chesni, 7, and Kayla, 3; her great grandmother, Pat Castrup of Brush, CO; her grandparents, Jr. and Linda Almazan of Granger and John and Lyn Scott of San Antonio; her aunt, Dona Davis of Ft. Morgan, CO; her Uncle Chris Scott of San Antonio; Uncle Darren Almazan and soon to be Aunt Jamie Trowbridge of San Antonio; Uncle Stanley and Aunt Jacque Almazan of Jarrell; cousins Jaylee, Parker and Addison Almazan of Jarrell; and cousins Tyler, Dylan and Brady Lester of Florence. Sammy also had numerous great aunts and uncles, and extended cousins that loved on her. Samantha experienced more love in 10 months than many people experience in an entire lifetime. Samantha was preceded in death by her grandma, Donna Null Scott. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran School or Word of Life Fellowship. Pastors John Davenport and Jim Craver of Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg, TX, are officiating at the celebration of life service to be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in the church. Family and friends are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a time of greeting and refreshment following the celebration of life service.
