Sandra was born October 21, 1959 in Florence, Texas to Felix, and the late Amelia Solis Ramírez. Sandra was taught at a young age the importance of family. She was guided to place her faith and her church first in her life. Sandra married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, David Merideth, Jr., on October 7, 1989. After graduating from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, Sandra immediately went to work as an elementary school teacher. Sandra was instrumental and very involved in the bilingual program as a Pre-kindergarten teacher at Annie Purl Elementary in Georgetown ISD, where she taught for over 25 years before retiring in 2009. She was a devout Catholic and a long time active member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church. She participated in various church activities and served as parish council president for many years. Sandra enjoyed cooking and baking, trying new recipes she would discover while loyally watching the “Food Network”, encouraging her husband, David, to be the “guinea pig”. She also enjoyed gardening, plants and flowers in particular. Floral arranging, knitting and doing other arts and crafts were other favorite hobbies. Sandra was known in her family for making all the family floral arrangements for all occasions and coordinated many of the family gatherings. Sandra is preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Amelia Ramírez in February of this year; her mother-in-law, Alice Merideth; her brother-in-law, Allan Merideth; and several uncles. Sandra leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 23 years, David Merideth, Jr.; her loyal companion, “Rusty”, her miniature Pomeranian; her father, Felix C. Ramírez; brothers, David Ramírez and his wife Ana, Daniel Ramírez and his wife Lucy, and Samuel Ramírez and his wife Connie; numerous nieces and nephews; along with numerous other loving family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and to Janie Miranda, her friend and care-giver. Sandra’s passion and devotion were for the welfare and education of all children. In lieu of flowers, a Sandra Merideth Memorial Fund has been established at A+ Federal Credit Union to honor her dedication and love for children. Donations can also be made to the Lupus Foundation of South Texas, 5503 Grissom Road, San Antonio, TX 78238.
