Shirley Harris Stringer, cherished wife of Ronald Stringer, passed away on Sept 1, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 82. She attended McCallum High School, where she ran track, and later graduated from University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Mathematics.
Shirley enjoyed her distinguished career, from navigating the early days of corporate computing at Shell Oil to running the business administrations for her family’s company.
Shirley had a zest for life that showed in everything she loved. She was an avid card player who cherished time with family and friends around the table and never turned down the chance to travel somewhere new. Above all, she doted on her grandchildren, delighting in every moment with them. Whether she was relaxing with a margarita by the pool, losing herself in a Sudoku or a good book, tending to her garden, or starting her morning with dessert alongside her coffee, Shirley knew how to savor the small joys of everyday life. She was also a devoted member of the San Gabriel Presbyterian Church and the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and her caring heart led her to volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Stringer; her parents, Jack and Mary Harris; and her brother, Jack Harris Jr. She is survived by her brother, Michael Harris of Austin, Texas; her sons Jeffrey Stringer (Brittany Bible) of Round Rock, TX, and Brian Stringer (Amy Hester) of Cedar Park, TX; and her grandchildren Elise, Grant, Ryan, and James Stringer.
The family will hold a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org
