Teresa Diaz Barrera

In loving memory of Teresa D. Barrera, a loving sister, mother, and grandmother was called by our Heavenly Father on Dec. 1, 2007 at the age of 86. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 6, 2007 in the Church of The Holy Spirit, 806 W. 9th Street in Georgetown with Rev. James Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow in Guadaluoe Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Vince Dela Cruz, Arthur Hernandez, Joey Reyna, Albert Barrera, Eddie Garcia, Bobby Barrera, Ernest Barrera, and Joshua Duran. Teresa was born October 15, 1921 to Santiago and Angelita (Sanchez) Diaz in Hutto. She worked as a custodian for the Georgetown Independent School District. Teresa met and married Julian Barrera, Sr., a marriage for 55 years before he preceded her in death. Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother; Eugenio Diaz. She leaves to cherish her memory sons; Pedro, Ruben, Felix, Julian, Jr., and David, daughters; Ophelia Dela Cruz, Adela Garcia, Dolores Mejorado, Josefina Jaime, and Julia Duran, brothers; Samuel Diaz, Lee Diaz, and Henry Diaz, sisters; Josefina Balderas, Sarah Hernandez, Amelia Rodriguez, and Alicia Torres, thirty grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 in Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 Northe IH-35 in Georgetown. Teresa will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her… Rest in Peace.
