

Thalia Irene Norris, 99, formerly of Brownsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, TX. Interment will be private at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Mrs. Norris was born April 17, 1915 in Wills Point, TX to Jess and Nell (Sloan) Mitchell. After graduating high school she attended Scott & White Hospital Nursing School in Temple. It was there that she met and married Clayborn Norris, with whom she shared the joys of life together until his passing in 1990. After receiving her nursing degree, she served at the County Health Clinic in Brownsville until her retirement. In her spare time she was a master rose gardener and enjoyed caring for her great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her love of animals and for her humble nature, always putting others above herself. Mrs. Norris is preceded in death by her husband, Clay. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughters, Lujane Mallett and husband James of Richardson, Diane Crowe of Austin; son, John Norris and wife Donna of Maryland; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and other loving family and friends.
