Venita Kathleen Hooten
August 10, 1925 – May 30, 2018
Venita Kathleen Hooten was born August 10, 1925, and passed from this life on May 30, 2018, at the age of 92.
She was born and raised in Dallas, and was a graduate of Sunset High School. She was married to Don Hooten on December 19, 1946. They were blessed with two children, David and Dianne. During her career she worked for First Interstate Bank in Phoenix, Arizona, as a customer service representative. She loved helping customers and was considered by many to be their “personal banker.” Kathleen was affectionately known as “Nana Kay”–later shortened to just “Nana”–by her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and especially enjoyed holidays where she would cook, always making sure her family had plenty to eat. She made preparing for and cleaning up after a big meal look effortless, even in her later years. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and leaves a legacy of love, joy and faith to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her beloved husband, Don, and a great granddaughter, Priscilla Joy. She is survived by her children, David and Beth Hooten and Dianne and Bill Painter. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Matt and Tiffany Painter, Christa and Joe Gillis, Clay and Jessica Hooten, Lyndsey and Matt Miller, and Coby and Jessica Hooten. She was blessed with 12 great grandchildren: Joey, Maggie and Makayla Gillis, Quinn and Whitacre Hooten, Keegan, Caleb and Conor Hooten, Sydney and Layne Miller, and Will and Owen Painter.

I have very fond memories of Kathleen. She was a gracious hostess when she had all of us over for a swim party at their house in Phoenix, Az. Always had a beautiful smile. She will be missed greatly! Prayers for her family.
