

Vernon Dale Cox, age 80 of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in La Grange. He was born on September 7th, 1937 in Liberty Hill, Texas to Horace Brady Cox and Hixie "Ann" (Buck) Cox. He was baptized in his teens and had a strong Christian faith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1957 he married Mary Louise Bonnett. He worked in the heavy construction industry. He retired as a building superintendent for Brown & Root's power division after 31 years. In September of 2017 Vernon and Mary celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Mary and three children - Karen Golden and husband Rickey of Borger, TX, Troy Cox and wife Shirley of Arlington, TX, Brian Cox and wife Melissa of Missouri City, TX. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren - Jennifer Thomas and husband Matt, Jeremy Golden and wife Megan, Andrew Mason, Trenton Cox, Mitchell Cox, Reagan Cox and Logan Cox. In addition, he is survived by 2 great-grandchildren - Ethan Thomas and Abigail Thomas, and a third great-grandchild (expected in April), Harper Quinn Golden. He was an avid outdoorsman. His favorites included fishing, hunting and golfing. He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather and was a loyal friend to many - always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all. R.I.P. "Papa". Graveside services will be held 10AM, Monday, December 18, 2017, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill.
