Virginia Harrison

Virginia Ola Faye Holleman-Harrison was born in Brownwood Texas

on November 13th 1943 to Nollie Olene Reese Holleman and Vernon Edgar Holleman. She spent her early years attending Brownwood schools and fighting off her 3 brothers. She loved the outdoors and spent her summers as a teenager at the lake with her best friend Cherry Blackstock Sikes, Alicia Hall Daniels and Susan Coferan. She left Brownwood to attend Texas Tech University and in 1964 where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She often said that her fun was over when her roommate, life long best friend and godmother (Gay Weitinger/Herrin) met Ron Herrin (lifelong friend and godparent to (Ryan and Holly) got married. She moved to Arizona to teach 6th grade. Approximately 1 year later married, Michael Carter Harrison and they moved back to Lubbock where she taught school. After a brief stint in Vernon Texas, they moved to Austin Texas and she stayed home to raise two wonderful children Ryan Carter Harrison and Holly Lynn Harrison. When her children were school aged she returned to work for AL Williams selling life insurance. She achieved her series 7 license which she was very proud of, to become a stock broker. She

was a stock broker for many years, then went to work for Seiko

Instruments, and then in her latter years became a realtor for Keller

Williams. She loved Tennis and was an excellent athlete. She followed her Texas Tech Red Raiders alongside Cherry and Marylin Gordon Reed all of her adult life. She loved coach Mike Leach and always had the picture of her and him proudly displayed. She had a close personal relationship with the Lord and loved the “John Group” which was a bible study she was involved in, in 1980, and held them close to her heart. She had incredible inner strength, a sense of humor and a very quick wit…always entertaining those whom she was around and laughing out loud. After suffering a stroke, she spent the last 16 months of her life under the care of Holly Lynn Harrison-Jones and Jeffrey Richard Jones, who sacrificed without question to ensure that her last

15 months were happy and fulfilling, but most of all securing that she knew she was loved beyond measure. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. She leaves a legacy of hard work, never quit attitude, humor and one of a devoted mother. She is survived by her sister Gwendolyn Arnold, brother Dan Holleman, her children Ryan Carter Harrison and Holly Lynn Harrison-Jones, and 2 grandchildren Sutton Marie Harrison, and Caleb Carter Harrison, many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind numerous other family members as well as close friends that do and will always miss her dearly. Despite her adversities in life, she always stayed true to her faith in Jesus. She will most certainly be waiting for us all at the gates of heaven.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on September 19, 2026, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628.
