Nov. 16, 1923 – June 25, 2024
Virginia (Ginny) Rothgeb McCormack died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. She was born in Shenandoah, VA on Nov. 16, 1923, to parents William Clarence and Mary Celona (Foltz) Rothgeb.
Virginia served as a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp in the Pacific during WW2. As the war wound down, she met the love of her life, C.H. “Mac” McCormack in Japan. They were married on June 12, 1946.
Mac’s work took the two of them to several places in the U.S. Virginia enjoyed joining women’s groups wherever life took her. She was active in garden and bridge clubs as well as University Women. She and Mac taught Sunday School at their Unitarian church while living in St. Louis. In addition, Virginia worked as an RN while living in various cities throughout her life.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Tricia) McCormack Seybold, her two grandchildren, Virginia (Seybold) Eatchel, and John (Jack) Seybold, her sister Betty Feiss, nephew Larry (and Ellen) Feiss, and several other nieces and nephews. Virginia’s grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved exploring different places with them when they were children and learning about their activities as they became young adults.
Virginia will be sorely missed for her kind heart and service to others throughout her life. Graveside services will be held at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, Texas (date pending). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Virginia’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
