Wanda Mock Shields, age 93, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away while she slept on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Wanda was born in Colorado to Ota and Maude Mock, both of whom predeceased her. In 1947 she married William A. Shields, Jr. of Kingsville, Texas. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and were married for 49 years until his death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Daniel Mock and her sister, Dorothea Stubblefield.
Wanda was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She supported her family with her whole heart and made friends wherever she went. She was a volunteer at Humana Hospital and with the Junior League, spent some time as a Girl Scout Troop leader and was an active member of the Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi. In 2009, to be closer to family, she moved to Georgetown and spent many happy years at the Wesleyan at Estrella.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, one son and their families: Suzanne Shields Wells and spouse Mike Wells of Montgomery, Texas, Janis Shields of Georgetown, Texas and Billy Shields of Sugarland, Texas.
Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are Jena Wells Fawcett and spouse Ian Fawcett, along with their children Lily, Devin and Delaney; Trampus Wells and spouse Rachel Wells along with their children Tripp and Carrick; and Will Shields and spouse Gina Shields and their children Sierra and Liam.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Courthouse Square at the Wesleyan at Estrella Assisted Living facility at 109 Estrella Crossing, Georgetown, Texas 78628. At a later date Wanda’s ashes will be interred in the columbarium at Parkway Presbyterian Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Wesleyan at Estrella and Kindred Hospice for taking such good care of Wanda.
