Wilda Mae Johnson Wadle, age 88, formerly of Odessa, Texas and resident of Georgetown, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 8, 2019. She was born along with her twin sister Wilma Fae in Oilton, Oklahoma on September 9, 1930 to R.O. and Grace Johnson. She was a loving wife to Johnny E. Wadle for almost 66 years before his death in 2015, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and trusted friend.
She graduated in 1949 from New London High School, New London, Texas. She married Johnny E. Wadle on June 25, 1949 at First Baptist Church, Turnertown, Texas. They moved to Monahans, Texas in 1950. She attended Odessa Beauty School in 1957 and opened her own shop on Gary Street in the 1960’s. She was the hairdresser to many of the school teachers in town and because of this her children couldn’t get away with anything! She loved being a hairdresser!
She and Johnny bought a 1973 Airstream in 1978 and spent the next 25 years visiting 48 states and three provinces of Canada. They loved to travel, to see new sites and make new friends from sea to shining sea.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Shelton and husband Gary of Georgetown, Texas; her son, Lonny Wadle and wife Debbie of Lampasas, Texas; special friend/daughter, Pamela Shannon of Lakeway, Texas; grandchildren, John Wadle of Austin, Texas, James Knezek and wife Julia of Longview, Texas, Mark Knezek and wife Shelly of Elgin, Texas, Scott Robinson and wife Tara of Slidell, Louisiana, and Julie Robinson of Abilene, Texas; great grandchildren, Alyssa Cates of Comanche, Texas, Tristyn, Emily, Chloe and Brenden Robinson of Slidell, Texas, Ashley Roberts of Baird, Texas, Jacob Robinson of Abilene, Texas, Emma Darby of Bastrop, Texas, Aiden and Carter Knezek of Longview, Texas, Lily and Magnolia Knezek of Elgin, Texas; great-great-grandson, Michael Barrett of Comanche, Texas; sister, Wilma Fae Johnson Shepherd of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Haskell Wadle and wife Correne of Turnertown, Texas; sisters-in-law, Dot Johnson of Dalton, Georgia and Ina Wadle of Odessa, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilda is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Eithel Hibbs; brothers, Robert, Cecil and Darrell Johnson; brother-in-law, William Hibbs; sister-in-law, Margie Johnson; and son-in-law Harvey Knezek.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Rusk County Memorial Garden Cemetery, 5013 US Highway 259 N., Henderson, Texas.
