William Leigh Winham, age 70, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012. He was born in Houston, Texas on November 7, 1941 to parents William Felix Winham and Nellie Bell (Button) Winham.
Leigh loved his family and most of all he adored his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching all sports especially football. Leigh played the piano beautifully with only having to hear a tune and he could then begin playing it. If there was a piano in sight, Leigh would sit down and begin playing no matter where he was.
He was a true patriot and had the highest respect for anyone that had served or was currently serving in our armed forces.
Leigh was a stranger to no one. As soon as he could make sure that there was a pot of coffee available, he would sit down and visit everyone who was around him.
He is survived by his three children, Karen Winham Greene and her husband Michael of Georgetown, Texas, William Leigh Winham Jr. of New Braunfels, Texas and Marilyn Winham Smallen and her husband Galen of Springtown, Texas; one granddaughter, Lauri Smith of Georgetown, Texas; three grandsons, Justin Motsinger of Georgetown, Texas, Blake Greene of Georgetown, Texas and Landon Smallen of Springtown, Texas; a great-grandson, Jackson Crowell of Georgetown, Texas; and companion of seven years, Annette Johnson of Killeen, Texas.

A military graveside service will follow in the afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
