November 2, 2010 for Jazz clarinetist, husband, and father – “Lenny Beckler”
Born January 14, 1928 in New Orleans, La. Received formal education from Loyola University and the Masters Vandercook College of Music. First Chair at Vandercook Symphonic and First Chair with the 253rd Army Band during his service tour- l945/1947. Distingushed career in music education, with a Life Time Teaching Certificate in Alabama, Mississippi, and Lousiana. While Men’s/Women’s Clothing sales was his Georgiana, Alabama business, playing Jazz was his passion. He enjoyed playing with Bob Cain and the Cainbreakers of Birmingham, Alabama the most of his musical career. Together they performed, sharing the stage with “Boots” Randolph, Al Hirt, Dukes of Dixieland, and Bob Hope to name a few. In addition to Jazz, Dixieland was his interpretation of inspirational music that he shared with many church congregations and charitable fund raising events. Lenny Beckler’s pure, natural, Dixieland/Jazz talent, born from the city known for the Greatest Jazz Musicians will be so missed. Survivors include: Wife: Juanita B. Beckler, Georgiana, Al; 2 Sons: Gary Beckler and Ken Beckler, both of Tuscaloosa, Al; Daughter: Cynthia Beckler, Los Angeles, Calif; Brother: Charles Beckler, III, Panama City, Fla; Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wilson and Rev. Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Al. directing arrangements.
