Deanna was born on February 1, 1949, to Robert L. “Bud” Haverick, Sr. and Jeanne “Tody” (Towne) Haverick in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She grew up in Gering, Nebraska, graduating with the Gering High School Class of 1966.
The previous summer, while cruising main with friends, she met William Gary Overmier. The two were married September 24, 1966, in Gering, Nebraska. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary together, before Gary’s passing in 2017. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, supporting their varied activities, and more than the occasional “Pilgrimage to the Mecca” to play in slots tournaments in Las Vegas. She was employed as a nurse at Regional West Medical Center, and Richard Young Psychiatric Services, until her health kept her from working. She later took on the role of “full-time grandma” providing care at various times for all of her grands.
She was the proud mother of two girls, Robin and Rashelle. Her Salt & Pepper hair color can be directly attributed to Robin, and somewhat to Rashelle. She was their biggest fan and staunchest supporter and loved them fiercely.
She is survived by her, children, Robin & husband Martin Kinney of Gering, Rashelle & husband Kurt Groskopf of Cheyenne, Wyoming, grandchildren Megan & David Hayes of North Platte, Nebraska, Justin & Taylor Groskopf of Cheyenne, Christopher & Beth (Cress) Overmier, of Gering, Madison Kinney of Carlsbad, NM, and bonus grandson Joshua Kinney of Mesquite, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Zayden, Zoey and Zailee Hayes, Warren & Harper Groskopf, Isabella Kinney of Grand Junction, Colorado; Brother, Robert L. Haverick Jr., and Tammy Haverick, brother-in-law John Gregory Overmier and sister-in -law, Christine Roberts, sister-in-law, Leanne Conrady, and numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her parents, Bud & Tody Haverick, in-laws, John and Geneva Overmier, Delores and Cullen J. DeGraw; her grandparents, Keith & Evelyn Grigg, and Henry & Helen Haverick.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at Gering Memorial Chappel. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, Gering. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at the chapel.
