Gary N. Ross, 78, of Gering, passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, however friends and family are invited to stop by Gering Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 20th from 5pm to 7pm to sign the register book and pay their respects. A private family graveside service will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Memorials may be given to Chuckwagon Church. Gary was born February 28, 1943 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Fred and Pauline (Piel) Ross. He attended Lincoln Elementary School, graduating from Gering High School with the Class of 1961. Gary was united in marriage to Nancy Kay Nelson on December 16, 1978 at Gering. The couple made their home in Gering, raising their three children: Ametha, Chaning, and Jason. Gary worked for the Lockwood Corporation as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk for several years and also as a security guard for Western Sugar.
Gary enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing especially with his sons. He collected foreign monies and sports cards. He loved working in the yard and always received compliments from passerbyers on how nice it looked. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends – past and present.
Gary is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Chaning (Jessiellee) and Jason (Cortney) and their children: grandchildren: Caysen, Ryder, Gavyn, Ashtyn, and Axyl Ross; daughter Ametha (Clay) Landen; brother Farrell (Donna) Ross; sisters Nonie Brakeman and Vonda (Paul) Kilthau; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Nancy Neal, Jackie Stanfield, and Rosemary Ross, and parents-in-law Leland and Irene Nelson.
