

Glace Bay
It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother Caresse Sheppard on October 29,2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital with loving family at her side. "Mom was the epitome of kindness, generosity and humility. She was a woman of great integrity who always put other people's needs ahead of her own. Our hearts are broken and we will miss her beyond words. She was the glue."
Born in Port Morien, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Dolena MacIntosh.
Caresse was employed with the Cape Breton School Board for 35 years spending most of those years teaching in Tower Road at Robert Orr Memorial School retiring in 1984 as Principal. She was a member of Newsom United church and served in the session where she held Clerk of Session for several years and sang in the choir. Also, she was a member of the Retired Teachers Association where she served two years as President. Caresse was a very active member of the Liberal party and held the position of Secretary, Glace Bay Liberal Women’s Club.
She is survived by daughters Sharon (Robert) Murchison, Jeri (Ralph) Millard, Eileen (Dannie) Currie and Dawn (Pat) Donovan; grandchildren Jeffrey, Jaclyn, Jared, Taryn, Megan and Jeri; step-grandchildren Justin and Erica and great grandchildren; sisters Dawn (Russell) Power and Paulette (Kenny) MacDougall; brother Leroy (Eleanor) MacIntosh and a special niece Sandra Shibinette.
Besides her parents, Caresse was predeceased by husband Bert; sisters Mabel, Georgia , Mary and brother Chester Jr.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday November 1,2016 from 7-9pm at Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, November 2 at 2:00pm in Newsom United Church with Rev. Carol Gillard officiating.
