OBITUARY

Effie Jane Ferguson

August 15, 1933June 25, 2020

On Thursday, June 25, 2020, peacefully, with her loving family by her side, Effie Jane (MacQueen) Ferguson, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior. Born in Round Island on August 15, 1933, Effie was the daughter of the Late John and Annie (Campbell) MacQueen. She was a founding member, past president, and lifetime member, of The Homeville Women’s Institute. She was also a member of the Louisburg Chapter of the IODE, and an adherent of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay. Effie is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Donald Ferguson. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost to her four children; Jane Anne Ferguson, Moose Factory, Ont., David (Mary), Homeville, NS, Gordon (Wendy), Homeville, NS, and Stuart (Belinda), Bedford, NS. She especially loved her roles as Nana and Great Nana and will be greatly missed by her 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; Stephen, Matthew, Sarah Jane, Andrea, Beth Ann, Daniel, Baillie, Kelsey, Paige, Keigan, Noah, Ella Marie, Keira, Gisele, Simon, and Lyla. In addition to her parents, Effie was predeceased by her brothers Donald MacQueen, and James MacQueen, and her sisters Annie Penny, Ina MacDonald, and Margaret MacQueen, and nephew Johnny Penny. Effie will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Jean MacQueen, her nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Karen Meadows Hodge. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 30, 2020 at 3pm in Black Brook Cemetery.
