Eric Rowe

Eric was born to Willis and Audrey Rowe (Wadman) of Glace Bay on March 27, 1957.

He lived in Glace Bay all his life meeting his soul mate Joanne Hall, at a social function. The young couple eventually married and raised their two daughters in Glace Bay. The health and happiness of their family was their shared highest priority. The family loved animals and enjoyed the enrichment provided by many furry friends. Eric worked most of his life in the coal mines around industrial Cape Breton. After the closing of the mines, he worked as a truck driver with Armour Transport until retiring. Later in life he developed an appetite for travel and enjoyed several international trips with family and friends.

Eric was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed camping with friends and family at Mira Water Park for the past 38 years. He helped anyone who needed a hand, no matter the task, especially surprising others with special acts of kindness. Widely known and well liked, he will be missed by all who enjoyed the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by daughters Kerrie and Cindy, both of Glace Bay, brothers Jimmy (Bernice) and Donald, both of Harmony, granddaughters Taia, Bailey, Olivia, and Charlotte. Eric was blessed to have found the second love of his life, Coleen Cipak, with whom he made many special memories until his passing. He is also survived by many special friends and relatives including his lifelong fishing friend Eric Campbell.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the physicians and staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary CCU. Your care and concern for Eric will always bring a special comfort.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne and his parents.

A visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, from 4pm-8pm at Pattens Funeral home 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 2pm at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Annie MacQueen officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery following the service.
