It is with so much sadness and such broken hearts that we had to say goodbye to our beloved Uncle Jay on Sunday Aug. 9,2020. Norn in Glace Bay Jay was the son of the late Catherine and earnest Morrison. Jay worked in the coal industry for 40+ years he was also an avid fisherman and loved his bungalow in Loch Lomond, he also took so much pride in his beautiful vegetable garden especially when people would come from all over to pick from it. Our uncle was like a Dad to us, he often joked and said; “I stepped up to the plate and hit a triple”, that triple being Paula, Cathy and his pride and joy Jamie. Jay is survived by his nieces, Paula (G.B) Cathy (Sheldon) Black Brook and nephew Jamie (Shelley) Airdrie Alberta. Grandchildren Bryson, Samuel and Kaylia. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Sammy. We would like to extend a special Thank You to management and staff of Victoria Haven Nursing Home for their unbelievable care and compassion for Jay, he adored you all. At Jays request there will be no visitation, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Jay we loved you beyond words and so thankful you were in our lives. Till we meet again rest easy, we’ll see you when we see you. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.pattenfuneral.com

I was very sad to read of JB's passing. We were first cousins but living in Ontario, I only met JB a few times. I knew him through stories from my mum, Eva Mclachlan Pemberton. Mum loved JB .
When she was 95, I took her back down east for a vacation. She had a wonderful visit with him. Like JB, mum passed away the next year. Who knows, maybe their having a cup of tea together in the great beyond?

I am so very sorry to hear of JBs passing. We're first cousins separated by time and distance. My last recollection of JB was when our Uncle Tom McLachlan passed away. I returned to Cape Breton to attend our uncle's funeral and one of the first people I met was this very distinguished looking grey haired gentleman, my cousin J.B. Morrison. My mother, Eva McLachlan Pemberton, who always spoke so kindly of JB, I'm sure would say: " You've earned your rest, and you'll nae be forgotten.

Hi Cathy, Sheldon & family. Just a note to say how sorry we r that Jay has passed away. There was rarely a conversation that he was not mentioned, something funny he did or said, as he brought so much joy & love to the family. He was the glue that kept the family grounded. A lovely man, so much like my Dad. Our hearts ache along with urs. Be strong. Hugs. Remember the good times.
