Joanne Mary Rowe

Joanne was born to Mary (MacKinnon) Hall of Lingan, and raised by her mother and grandparents, Josie and Henrietta Hall, whom she dearly loved.

She lived there until meeting her life long love Eric Rowe on her 16th birthday. The couple married and eventually settled in Glace Bay where they worked and raised their two daughters. She worked at Zellers department store and Clearwater fish plant. She completed an OIT diploma at NSCC and finished her working life as a medical secretary in Sydney.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Eric; daughters, Kerrie Lynn of Glace Bay and Cindy Michelle of Abu Dhabi (UAE); as well as many relatives and special friends.

She lived for her family. Their health and happiness were her first priorities. She loved Christmas and her summers at Mira Water Park where she made many special friends. She loved animals especially her boys, Yogi and Booboo. Widely known and well liked she will be missed by all who enjoyed the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the physicians and staff at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital ICU and Victoria General Hospital ICU. Your care and concern for Joanne will always be a special comfort. A special thank you to Cindy Planetta NP at New Waterford Hospital.

She was predeceased by her mother and grandparents.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral home 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
