Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Howard and olive (Day) Pemberton.
John worked for 28 years in DEVCO’s Central Shops as a machinist with most of those years in the Tool Room. He served as the local treasurer for the UMWA for many years and remained active well into his retirement.
For over 20 years he was on the Board of Directors for the Cody Credit Union, he was also a member of the Glace Bay Pensioners Club where he also served as Treasurer. At the club he enjoyed playing pool with the boys and also the card games. Dad always kept himself busy but for leisure time he loved going to the Eagles games, shows at the HAT and movies. He was a gentle man and a Great Dad.
He is survived by daughter Donna Timmons (Blaine), sons David (Sharon) and John (Debbie), 3 grandchildren Elisha, Dylan and Olivia, 2 great grandchildren Ellesandra and Trent, sister Gerri Corsano (Martin), brother Jim (Gail) and cousin and best friend Russ Power
Besides his parent he was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Mary Elizabeth.
In following his wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home.
Due to some of the COVID restrictions, we will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering that we will schedule in the near future.
