Katherine “KATHY” Rose McNeil It is with great sadness that we the family regret to announce the passing of our sister and aunt Katherine “Kathy” Rose McNeil, who died peacefully with family at her bedside at the Glace Bay Hospital on May 2,2020. Kathy was a genuine and selfless soul who devoted her life to raising her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews as if they were her own, and treasured every moment she could with them. She was a very spiritual person who found joy in praying the Rosary every night. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games and knitting in her spare time. Throughout her life she maintained a kind and gentle spirit which won the hearts and love of many. Her signature gift of joy shown through her constant smiling, laughter and joking around will never be forgotten. Kathy is survived by sisters Dorothy and Donna Marie (Jerry) and brother Gerard (Barbara), nieces: Ashley (Peter), Katherine; nephews Tommy (Rose Anne) as well as grandnieces Ivy, Chloe and Briella, grandnephews Christopher, Devon and Lincoln. She is also survived by a special cousin Ricky and her best friend Frances MacIntyre (New Brunswick). Kathy was predeceased by her parents Donald and Kathleen, sister Mary and two brothers Donald Charles and Donnie. At this time we would like to extend a special thanks to all the healthcare staff for the compassionate and professional care they provided to Kathy during her illness including the nurses and doctors at Glace Bay Hospital, Dr. Stephanie Ellerker, Dr. John Rodgers and his wife Monica. A private family visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home. Funeral service and burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Glace Bay Food Bank or charity of your choice. Online condolences can be sent to www.pattenfuneral.com
