It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Kevin Charles MacLeod aged 64 on Monday June 24,2019 at home in Port Caledonia. Kevin was an electrician by trade and past member of IBEW Local 1852. Kevin also held various jobs throughout his life. Kevin had a great sense of humour, a larger then life personality and was a true gentleman. He would talk to everyone and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Most times you’d find Kevin working around the yard and in his beloved garage which was a conversation piece all in itself. When you’d see Kevin, you’d see Char, their bond was inseparable. When Kevin met Char the love of his life he included her into the drag racing community. Together they travelled the Maritimes racing for many years. They not only enjoyed racing but also enjoyed spectating the events. Kevin and Char enjoyed the conversations with fellow racers. Kevin was an extremely dedicated New York Yankees, Oakland Raiders and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He was fortunate enough to see his teams play in their home towns.. Kevin will be sadly missed. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 31 years Charlene (Walton) MacLeod. His mother and father in-law Doreen and William Walton, sister-in-law Danielle (Byron) Miller and their children Chelsea (Travis), Kirk, Mitchell, Madison (Kyle), Parker and Riviera. Kevin is also survived by his “ Little Ladies” great nieces Emersyn Rose and Rylee Ann Kirk. Kevin had many friends and close friends, too many to mention. He also survived by cousins. Kevin was predeceased by his parents Ellen (Green) and Charles MacLeod of Port Caledonia. Cremation has taken place, visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St Glace Bay, NS on Tuesday July 2,2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of life for Kevin will take place on Wednesday July 3 at 2pm in St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Port Caledonia with burial and reception to follow. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of ones choice. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.pattenfuneral.com “ Those who died yesterday had plans this morning, and those who died this morning had plans for tonight. It felt a little strange to wear bright yellow to a funeral but uncle gaga was obsessed with the colour. And when I say obsessed I’m not even being dramatic. Their house is yellow, his garage is yellow, pretty much every room in their house is yellow... hell Char even told me about how he use to go to No Frills and buy their bags, just because they were yellow. And the more I think about it, the more I realize it was such a suiting colour for him. He was always a ray of sunshine. It was impossible to be in his presence and not walk away with a tummy ache from laughing so hard. He had that affect on people - he always made you feel welcome and it didn’t matter if you spent 5 minutes with the man or 5 hours, when you left, you left with a lifelong friend. I will forever cherish all of the memories I have of him and forever be blessed that I had him as my uncle. Until we meet again, rest easy uncle gaga 💛 love: “the hawk”

Charlene and family, my heart is broken for you, I am so sorry for your loss.

Kevin was always smiling, every memory I have of him, he’s smiling. I have fond memories of visiting him when I was home, in the garage talking about sports, cars and drag racing. When I bought my first car, I took it to Kevin for his approval.

Kevin always called Dad “Tommy” (after Tommy Lasorda) the baseball player and coach. He always said they looked alike and this memory will always make me smile.

When I was out somewhere, even as recent as the day before he passed, and cars were talked about, I mentioned Kevin, Charlene, and their cars.

He will be missed by many and we will cherish the wonderful memories we have.

May he Rest in Peace.

Charlene,
I am so sorry for your loss. In truth, I had not seen Kevin since high school. But I have great memories of those times at Donkin Morien High. He was such a wit then, always talking and joking in the hall. It is strange how for a time in our youth, we are close to our friends because we see each other every day in school. Then, we go on our own separate journeys. We are left with pleasant memories of a time that has passed and can only be revisited at various times throughout the rest of our lives. From reading about Kevin, it seems he had not changed much, and was still that likeable fellow that left an impression on those he encountered. My thoughts are with you.
Sincerely, Eileen Morford-Martin

Charlene
We're shocked and sorry to hear about Kevin's passing. You'll have lasting memories of the wonderful adventures you had together and we have fond memories of visits to the beach with Ellen and Kevin, picking blueberries in the field and family gatherings with all the aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kevin's garage was a sight to behold... the original " man cave". As fellow, long suffering Leaf fans, we are very happy that he got to see them play.

Charlene, So sorry to hear of Kevin's sudden passing. Our deepest condolences to you and the family in this time of your loss. Kevin's probably at the golden gates tuning up St. Peter's chariot as we speak, getting it ready for a race.
