
On Monday, November 28th,2011, our family lost our beloved Aunt Margaret Christine MacLean. Born in Catalone, October 8th,1924 she was the daughter of the late Rod E. MacLean and Margaret ( MacLean) 007Aand Stepmother Agnes ( MacAulay) MacLean
In her early years Margaret was employed as a Nanny to the Lubetzki Family of Glace Bay. She later moved to Halifax where she worked for 35 years in private nursing. For the past five years she was a resident of Seaview Manor , Glace Bay where she fought a courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease.
She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, Halifax but always held her home church MacMillan Memorial United Church, Catalone, dear to her heart. While living in Halifax she was a member of the UCW and was very active in church affairs.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Cathy ( Dave ) Wadden, Catalone; Jean ( Doug) Dunbar, Calgary; John A (Jenny) MacLean, Calgary; Charles MacLean, Newfoundland; Margie Steele, Sydney; Gordon (Shirley) MacLean, Malagawatch; Angus ( Patricia ) Maclean, Sydney. She is also survived by her best friend and cousin Rhoda Dickson, Catalone Gut; sister-in-laws Shirley MacLean, Sydney and Ede MacLean, Whitby, Ontario
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Catherine ( Hughie ) Peach, Glace Bay, Angus MacLean, Whitby, Ontario Neil ( Elsie) MacLean Louisbourg; Strath MacLean, Sydney ;and John A. MacLean , Catalone. Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation will be held at MacMillan Memorial United Church, Catalone, Thursday, December 1st, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd, 2011 with Rev. Matthew Fillier officiating. Interment in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.
