We the family of Michael Joseph Conron are saddened to announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Born in Glace Bay to the late Andrew and Rita Conron. Michael enjoyed a long teaching career, teaching at Holy Cross, St. John School, St. Michael’s and lastly at MacDonald High School. Michael was very proud of achieving his Masters degree from St. Francis Xavier. Michael was a very outgoing personality with a good sense of humour. He was always ready with a joke or a good story. A longtime member of the Hawks Club in Dominion and an avid Crib player. Michael enjoyed going for a drive and never missed an opportunity to show guests around Glace Bay or take them to his beloved cabin on the Mira.
Michael is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Dinah, children Bernadine (Wayne) Anderson and Gregory (Catherine), grandchildren Hannah, Kellen, Matthew and Ian as well as son-in-law Mark Hirtle and his step children James (Chris) Baxter, Douglas (Roxy) Baxter, Joanne Baxter, Ruth Baxter and Robert (Lorelle) Baxter.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his first wife Josephine, daughter Sherri Hirtle and his siblings Ernest and Raymond.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating. Inurnment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
