It is with sadness that the family of Rosella Stevenson announces her passing on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Taigh Na Mara with her family at her side.
Rosella was born on January 30, 1926 in Glace Bay. She was the second of seven children of a fishing family. Her parents were Jenny and Walter Pink.
Rosella left school to work at Phalen’s Bakery and spent all her free time skating, where she met Tom Stevenson. They were married August 5, 1947. They moved to a house on Brookland Street, where they raised a family and spent almost the whole of their married life. She dedicated her whole life to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Rosella and Tom had a close circle of friends with whom they danced and partied and celebrated life to the fullest. And she and Tom skated until they were 80.
Rosella is survived by her daughters Corinne Stevenson (Keith Macdonald) and Ina MacEachern; granddaughters Jeannie MacEachern, Trina MacEachern and Breanna Langley; great-grandchildren Keagan and Kaylee Muise; sisters-in-law Jean Stevenson, Vera Deering and Teresa Pink; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosella was predeceased by her husband Tom Stevenson; her parents Jenny and Walter Pink; her brothers Alvin, Walter (Junior), David and Albert Pink and sister Elsie Pink; niece Tracey Pink and nephew Chris Pink; brothers-in-law John and Edward Stevenson and sister-in-law Anne Linton.
The family would like extend a special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Taigh Na Mara where Rosella lived for the past 6 years. Their care and compassion will not be forgotten.
