Valerie Joyce MacDonald It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Valerie MacDonald on August 26,2019 in the Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born August 19,1935 in Glace Bay to the late Henry (Hopper) and Rachel (Tootsie) MacDonald. Mom was a member of the Salvation Army Glace Bay, she owned and operated Valerie’s Beauty Salon for over 40 years. Valerie is survived by daughters Beryl (Jim) Clements Glace Bay, Belinda (Tom) Carlson Littleton,Co; sons Darren Glace Bay and Duane (Karen) Prescott Ontario; grandchildren Nerissa (Kent), Jeremy (Haley), Mia and Luke; great grandchildren Callie and Mallory; her sister Beryl (Stuart); brothers Henry (Gail), Johnny (Ruth), Allister(Mae), Angus and Earl (Heather); sister-in-law Tecie; special niece Heather and numerous nieces and nephews. Beside her parents she was predeceased by husband Ralph(2011) and bother Neil. Visitation will take place on Thursday August 29,2019 from 10am-11am in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay with Service to follow in the Salvation Army Glace Bay at 12pm. Burial to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Valerie’s memory can be made to the Salvation Army Glace Bay or charity of one’s choice.
