Mrs. Violet Turner, 92 of Glace Bay, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Rose Blanche, Nfld, she was the daughter of the late Hezekiah and Rosanna (Strickland) Parsons. She was a homemaker, loved to knit, cook, bake and was an avid reader, going for drives and weekend shopping. Violet is famous for her choclate cakes; was a very competive card player with her family at home. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was always there to give a helping hand. Violet was very young at heart and loved life. She loved to listen to music especially listening to Johnny Reid. She was a member of the Glace Bay General Hospital Ladies Auxilliary, a past volunteer for the town house in Glace Bay, and was an elder for the Epworth United Church. Violet is survived by her daughters; Ruby (late Sonny) MacLeod, Glace Bay, Janet (John) Macfie, Lake Echo,NS, Barb (Eric) McPherson, Edmonton, AB, Debbie (late Tim) Flemming, Glace Bay, Sandra (Liam) Turner, Fort MacMurray, AB, Cheryl (Keith) Howie, Beaverbank, NS, and a special grandson/son, Ronnie, Glace Bay. Sister Lizzie Parsons, Rose Blanche, Nfld. 26 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Turner; sons, Donnie, Sid, Barry, daughter in infancy Wendy; Brothers; George Robert, Thomas, Albert, Eric, Ralph, Henry; sisters Miriah, Carrie and Annie. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm from the Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay with a funeral service being held Wednesday 2:00 pm from St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay.
