Willena "Lena" MacDonald

Lena passed away peacefully on Jan 19, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Lena was born January 14, 1930 in Glace Bay and was firstborn in a family of 9 siblings (all predeceased) (Roy, Malcolm, Aubrey, Fred, Annie, Joyce, Susan and Tootsie.)

Lena is predeceased by her first husband, Melvin MacDonald (Glace Bay) and her second partner Stan Richards.

Lena worked in her younger years as a nurse and practiced at the Glace Bay General Hospital.

After retirement Lena loved spending time at her cottage in Catalone Gut in Cape Breton and taking long drives on weekends with Melvin, where you would find her with her beloved toy poodle Andy (who lived to be 24 )….a testament to Lena's love and care.

Lena also loved visiting her many brothers and sisters where they would reminisce and quite often laugh until they cried…which was a common sight in their family.

Lena will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

As per Lena’s request, there will be no service.

Cremation has taken place and she will be interred at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting pattenfuneral.com.
