Billy was the son of Duart and Viola (Smith) Cooke of Donkin. Left to mourn is his wife of 46 years, Sandra (Boutilier) Cooke, his son Billy (Sherrie), daughter Angela (John), also your grandchildren David, Brycen and Shaylee White and Shayne Cooke, the joys of his life. Also left are his sisters Margie (Eric) MacLeod, Patsy (Breton) Hayes and brother David (Susie) and nieces and nephews. Billy was predeceased by his parents Duart and Viola and his loving son Tyler, who is dearly missed by all.
Billy worked as a fisherman for many years alongside his father. He really enjoyed being on the water. In his free time, he loved working in the woods, a real outdoorsman. He loved exploring the island, which led to many camping trips and spontaneous weekend getaways with his wife. He was also an avid dart shooter and won many tournaments over the years.
Billy was a quiet man of few words, but really enjoyed time spent with family and friends and a few cold beers. Special "thank you" to the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit who showed great compassion and went above and beyond, not only for Billy, but for our family as well. We appreciate it so much.
There will be no service as per Billy's request. Cremation has taken place. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting pattenfuneral.com. If desired, donations can be made to Palliative Care or the Cape Breton Cancer Society.
