Al Pierson, 84, of Gladstone MO passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. Memorial Service and inurnment will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery. Alfard Stanley Pierson was born September 29, 1931 in Wabash County, IL to Stanley Lewis Pierson and Brittie Isabelle Thompson Pierson. Following high school he served 4 years in the United States Navy before returning home, marrying Donna Rayburn Green and starting a family. He moved his family to the Kansas City area in 1969 and worked for the North Kansas City School district where he became affectionately known as “Big Al” by students, co-workers and friends until retiring. He and Donna enjoyed some years in Arizona then returned to Gladstone to dote on their granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Barnett Pierson, sister Bonnie Worstell and sister Judith Thompson. Survivors include his son, Stanley Pierson and spouse, Hector Colon of Chicago, IL; daughter Janice Nichols and spouse, Thomas of Gladstone, MO; granddaughter, Jessica Nichols; sister, Geraldine York; sister, Ethel Smith; brother, David Pierson and spouse, Jean.
