Ann Harvey Meeder Carmean, 83, peacefully passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital North on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Ann was born in Mason City, Iowa on August 26, 1936 to Harold and Frances Meeder. As a young child, Ann’s parents moved back to Kansas City, MO. Ann was a 1954 graduate of North Kansas City High School and a member of the 1958 graduation class of KU, with a BS in Science. Ann worked as a physical therapist both at Liberty Hospital and Excelsior Springs Hospital for over 30 years.

Ann was always very active in her community. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Phi Chapter, and the Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Gamma Master Chapter. A lifelong member of The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church were she served on Alter Guild and her Mother was a founding member. A member of the NKC Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer for the Clay County Board of Elections for over 30 years, to mention of few.

Ann will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, E. Scott Carmean (Nathalie), her daughter, Alison McCallum (Sandy), her Grandson, Brandon Carmean (Sara) and her two Great Grandsons, Levi and Atwood Carmean. Step daughter, Susan Mansur (Tom) and Mary Carmean (Jim), and step Granddaughter, Erin Collins (Jeff) and Step Grandson, Ben Myers (Rachel), and their families. Ann was preceased in death by her loving parents, Harold (Papa) and Frances (Grandmommie) and step son Jim Carmean.

Ann was known for her beautiful smile, her kindness and willingness to volunteer. She was never shy and loved meeting new people and will be missed by her best friend of over 75 years Patti Hodges. She was a lifelong fan of the KC Chiefs and an avid follower of KU Basketball and never let anyone forget she watched Wilt Chamberlain play at KU during her college days.

Visitation will be at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119, on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Masks will be required. A graveside service for family and close friends, will be held on September 18, 2020 at 1:00 at the Mount Moriah Cemetery. (I435 and Holmes) This event will also be lived streamed.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the PLDS, Promise Land Dachshund Sanctuary, P.O. Box 826 Gardendale, TX 79758, and The Salvation Army to assist with food for the many still out of work.

Ann called Mummy by us girls will be greatly missed. She loved scrapbooking with us and was always the entertainment. Lots of memories with Mummy prayers to the entire family.
