

Annette Renee deMontel (née Lumby) passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 21, 2025, in Riverside, Missouri. She was born on November 3, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert Lumby Sr. and Patricia Lumby (née Smith).
Annette graduated from Oak Park High School in 1977 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in 1981. Her professional career included roles at several banks and as an office manager at General Railway Signal. However, her greatest focus and joy came from raising her children and cherishing her family.
A devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, Annette followed her hometown teams with enthusiasm. She also loved spending time at Pomme de Terre Lake near Wheatland, Missouri—a cherished destination she had visited since childhood. Known for her outgoing personality, Annette enjoyed the company of friends and treasured the moments spent with loved ones.
Annette is survived by her sons, Clinton and Garrett deMontel; grandchildren Sylas, Eila, and Lorelai deMontel; nieces Hallie and Emily Lumby; nephew Jeffrey Lumby; and great-niece and nephew Logan and Lacie Lumby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lumby Sr. and Patricia Lumby, as well as her brother, Robert Lumby Jr.
A visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, February 5 followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
Annette will be remembered for her love of family, her vibrant spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
